It lives! range Rover Reborn resurrects 1970s original
Land Rover has announced plans to give the original range Rover the same restoration treatment as it gave to the series 1 Land Rover last year, creating the range Rover Reborn.
An initial batch of ten examples of the original range Rover will be comprehensively restored, using prospective customers the chance to get a version of the original range Rover brand new and straight from Land Rover.

Finished in Bahama Gold with a tan cloth and leather interior, a 3.5-litre carburettor fed V8 sits under the bonnet, producing 132bhp and 251Nm of torque – the same figures as the original Rover V8 engined car. All four wheels are driven through a four-speed manual gearbox and a lockable central differential.

Every range Rover Reborn completed by Land Rover classic will begin in the hands of an experienced restoration team who’ll work with customers to find the best possible base automobiles for the restoration process. customers will be encouraged on collectability, special attributes of their chosen base range Rovers and more effective chassis numbers.
The complete restoration is embarked on to original 1970’s factory specification using Land Rover classic parts, and prices for ‘Reborn’ range Rovers will start from £135,000.
According to Tim Hannig, director at Land Rover Classic, the range Rover Reborn programme is “a terrific way to preserve the much sought after three-door original range Rover from the 1970s, from period-correct colour ways to interior trim and accessories.”

The Bahama Gold 1978 range Rover Reborn will go on display at beauty parlor Retromobile in Paris next week, alongside a Jaguar classic restored fixed-head 1962 E-Type, plus a ‘New Original’ £1m+ Jaguar XKSS.
